Alabama is undefeated and looks like the best team in the nation.

AND my fantasy football team is first in my division, 3-1.

AND Amy didn’t totally hate her gift of a couple of cook books, an iron, and a 9×13 pan.

Just kidding on the last one. She did hate it.

17 years ago I stood in Legacy Drive Baptist Church wondering what in the world I was doing.

I said ‘I do’ and so did she but we had no clue what we were doing.

After all this time, not a whole lot has changed. I still have no idea how this wonderful creation of God called ‘Woman’ really works. Especially the one named Amy Carolyn Seely English.

I’m convinced now more than ever I was given a better woman than I deserved, one that seems to be specifically wired to deal with ministry and two sports crazed boys that she loves. One that continues to grow in her love and knowledge of Jesus.

Happy Anniversary, Amy.

I updated my Facebook for you.

Or WordPress users of Facebook…however you want to roll.

Here’s the plugin page: Status-Press Widget – this is the widget version.

This is the non-widget version.

I’m using the widget version over there on the right.

Basically it rips the status off an RSS feed from Facebook and let’s you display it on your website. Pretty cool, pretty amazing.

I didn’t have any problems installing it and using it. It did take me a while to figure out how to change the text size and margin on the widget. Here’s the simple version – look at the sidebar of Brian’s post on the widget and pay careful attention to the stylized format lines.

Then go here and use all the fun CSS you can imagine to make it look like you want.

Now I can annoy Amy in two places.

Aim has an annoying habit of correcting my grammar when it comes to my status on Facebook. She’s obsessive compulsive about it. In fact, whenever anybody messes up their status line – I hear it from Amy.

Alright, maybe not every time but it does bug her when people don’t erase the “is” on their status line and it reads something like this…

“Grant English is went to the store.”

or

“Suzanne Davidson is likes to sleep when the kids are playing in the kitchen with sharp knives.”

(Suzanne does NOT let her kids play with sharp knives. Nor does she sleep when they do…if they did…at least to my knowledge.)

Anyway, I’ve had a couple of status reports that weren’t exactly up to her grammatical standards the last few days. As a result I’m going to have to start doing it on purpose now and I need some ideas.

“Grant is likes the new movie of James Bond.”
“Grant is thinks the Broncos will beat the snot out of Atlanta.”
“Grant is the downstairs couch is very comfortable.”

I come downstairs from my office today and Amy meets me, throws her arms around my neck, throws herself at me, shoves her face in mine and gives me an end of a chic-flick kiss.

She is beaming, smiling. I had two immediate thoughts. The first one I can’t share with you but the other one was that she acted this way the last time she found out she was pregnant…please God…I love kids but 3 is plenty.

“You bought me flowers!!!”

Ever notice at key moments in your life everything seems to slow down? I look over to see the flower arrangement, Rowland is standing behind her shaking his head up and down in exaggerated moments.

I’m clueless.

“Ummmmm…… Honey, I gotta level with you. I didn’t send you flowers.”

“But it says these are from you. Look at the card.”

“Someone must really like me or they think I’m a lousy husband and need some help. But I didn’t send those flowers.”

Long Pause.

“So…do I get another ki—”

“You so owe me more flowers before you get another one of those.”

So whoever sent them to Amy – I just want to say thank you. It was 4 minutes of heaven. I’m still going to have to buy her more flowers now but it will be worth it.

And I’ll pay it forward.
