American Boredom
I watched some American Idol tonight with my son.
I tried to watch it would be a better description.
I realize that half of America watches this show. I realize that some of you are addicted to it. I also know that Lost is watched by this same half – another show I gave up on after 3 episodes.
But I was bored. I mean the singers weren’t awful. They weren’t incredible. It was like watching people sing on the cruise except without the alcohol. I don’t get the craze behind the show. Ryan Seacrest is annoying. Simon is a jerk. Paula is from another planet. Randy is the only decent one but he calls everyone ‘dog.’
Oh well…back to Burn Notice…the best show on television.

Nice to know there are others who think like me!
I agree on American Idol…I don’t get it (I think it is a generational thing to some degree). I can’t say I am with you on Lost, but we did get into it several seasons in and it’s better to watch on DVD straight through (not so confusing that way). Haven’t even heard of Burn Notice…what’s the plot?
How dare you compare the American Idol audience to the Lost audience.
Wow…..guess that makes me a really boring person since I enjoy watching this show. Should I be admitting this out loud?? Probably not!
I do watch AI but only because my wife does
Don’t watch Lost…probably would like it but never started and it is too late now.
I like Amazing Race..get to see lots of cool places, see a little competition and usually some fun interaction between people from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Amazing Race is a staple at our house. We are addicted to it.
Dave B – go to usa network’s website and watch an episode. Burn Notice is the best written and acted show on TV. No comparison.
And for the record, it’s not that American Idol watchers are boring…okay…maybe they are but that’s not what I’m saying.
Lost viewers on the other hand…
I’ll agree on AI. However I must give a shout out to LOST. The only thing is you have to start with the first episode. Much better on DVD also
Burn Notice is good. I can’t agree that it is the best written and acted show on TV. Law and Order Criminal Intent is by far the best . This is the 8th season. ( when and if it is released). The ensemble cast has many years of experience that bring a depth to their characters …We will wait and see what Jeff Goldblum brings to the show. Not my personal choice.
I admit I think Vincent D’Onofrio is one of the most versatile actors around .
I agree with the “Lost” comment, after three episodes I wanted to shoot myself in the foot. I have plenty of friends who watch the show, and from talking with them…I believe the show is just digging deeper and deeper, going nowhere but down. Burn Notice on the other hand, great and informative show!!
Spot on with the AI stuff. Lost? Never got into it. Burn Notice? OH YEAH BABY! Love the show, but have to watch re-runs because it comes on so late here on the west coast.
Cindy does like the Amazing Race – we just don’t get to catch it as often as we would like.
Still like NCIS and 24, though both are becoming a bit worn.
“Burn Notice is the best written and acted show on TV. No comparison.”
You have a typo there. I think you meant to say Lost.
(even though in last night’s episode they not only ripped scripture from it’s context, they changed the context.)
I have to disagree with mom. Law and Order: criminal intent is the second best law and order on tv. The original is still the best.
Criminal Intent did get better with the addition of Chris Noth, and I agree with mom that it will be interesting to see how Jeff Goldblum does in the new role.
Clay – you and my mom also are in love with Patsy Cline.
There are times when I wonder if you’re the lost son or something. ha ha …
This speaks great things about your mom’s character. It also leads one to wonder how you went terribly wrong with taste in music and t.v.
Thanks Clay. I appreciate your good taste. One consolation …Grant does enjoy classical , jazz and other excellent choices is music and movies. So overall , I think that makes up for the deficits. ha ha ….. I love him flaws and all.
