What Makes Me Sick About the NBA Finals

I’m sick of the NBA Cares campaign.

The NBA cares so much for their communities that they will schedule a one-day photo op for its stars and owners and coaches showing them hanging out an elementary school or hospital for a couple of hours….a year.

We’re not that stupid, NBA.

I’m sick of the sideline reporting.

We’ve finally found something that makes Stuart Scott look like an idiot. The man could sell ice to an Eskimo, but even he can’t sell this. It’s pointless. How many different ways can a player say – “It’s really a total team effort”, “We’ve got to play better defense”, “We’re getting our looks, the shots just aren’t falling”?

I’m sick of Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift ads.

I realize that the NBA has very little to do with this – but it’s a lot like the current NBA – all glitz, little substance, repackaging the same thing three times is beyond bold, it’s ridiculous.

I’m sick of their schedule.

Do we need that many games? Do we need that many days off between playoff games? Do we need half the league in the playoffs? Do we need the games on cable?

The sad answer to all of those questions is yes. Follow the money.

Other than that – Go Mavs.
