Interesting thoughs M20 -- lots to chew on. What if your premise that "few people come to group settings ready to worship" was wrong? What if people came expecting to worship together via one of the earlier mentioned ideas, or even in some other way? What if in our daily walk and everyday life, we expected every meeting with a brother or sister or group of brethern and sisteren :-) to be a worshipful experience? Ahh, but first, what are YOU defining as worship?

Me??? At a high level, I still tend to define it as our response to God's love. Doing the double click on that is a bit difficult -- I think that response takes on various forms both in private and in community. That response also deepens and grows/changes/transforms as our relationship grows and deepens.

Hmm, an interesting thought just hit me...must go do a little digging.

Okay, I just found this site. I guess I am out of the loop. Maybe on purpose!

Can I throw water on this post? I do not like most of the suggestions. If I was in a group that did some of these, I would think it was too forced or trying to be purposely different.

I will save you a response, Grant, by asking myself, well then, what would you suggest be done?

I will have to think about it some. My initial thoughts are that you will not experience God "on-the-spot" much differently that you experience him in everyday life. If you are not having meaningful worship times during the week, then the group times will be just another event that will have little impact in our life.

I think worship has to come out of a personal relationship, emphasis on personal. Most meaningful workship will occur in private situations as we experience or recognize God, rather than group situations, unless you happen to be in those rare situations where you are with some like-minded people. Is Sunday morning or life group meetings one of those? Maybe.

(This is getting too long)
Few people come to group settings ready to worship and it may be too much to expect that they do. So maybe we have it backwards. Maybe the worship time should be on the back end. The front end could be used to help us get to the point where we see or experience God in a way that we will worship him. Worshiping first just creates a situation where we have to fake it or conjur it up. Not good.

The other thought is to not push the worship in group settings. Do other things in the group and encourage worship in personal situations.

I will stop now (no clapping), but I have more (no crying).
