My Favorite Drug

I am in the middle of some funk right now…I plow through the stuff I HAVE to do, but no creative juices left in the tank at this point.

May 17th can’t come quick enough.

But I have found my favorite drug as a coping mechanism…movies.

I love movies.

Yesterday I saw Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. I laughed pretty hard in it…it is extremely British humor so if you didn’t dig Monty Python – might want to punt this one. Just remember, the answer is 42.

Last night I watched Pitch Black. I liked it. It was intense, dark (duh), yet redeemable. I like sci-fi, though.

Now both movies have something in common – their websites might be cooler than the movie itself. A very cool thing indeed.

Other Movies I Want To See This Summer:

Star Wars III
War of the Worlds
Batman Begins
The Longest Yard – I know, but the trailer is hilarious
Mr. & Mrs. Smith – two words – Angelina Joline.
Bad News Bears

Movies If I See, It Will Be Because I Was Dragged:
(These movies I am so dis-interested in, I’m not even linking them.)
Bewitched…although it does Nicole Kidman, it also has Will Ferrell – whose abilitly to screw up a good movie is unchallenged in Hollywood.

Herbie: Fully Loaded…good chance I’ll get drug to this one…with 3 kids and a wife, this one is going to get stuffed down my mouth.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory…I thought the first one was wierd and horrible. So in the remake the get Johnny Depp??? Yeah, that was smart.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo…do we need any further evidence that Rob Schneider’s career is OVER! He and Will Farrell should do a movie together.

Monster-In-Law…J Lo and Jane Fonda – good night. Are we that desperate? If you get that desperate to see a movie – call me. We’ll find something…anything.

Okay – enough distractions of the morning.

i thought you and i could be friends, but im not so sure anymore.

“it also has Will Ferrell – whose abilitly to screw up a good movie is unchallenged in Hollywood.”

    what?!

will ferrell is the funniest actor of my/our generation! oh man, i love his stuff. “anchorman” is one of my top 5 favorite comedies of all time! hahaha. and im dying to see this new one, “kicking and screaming”. huzzah for will!

please tell me you liked chris farley when he was still around?! please?

    jer

ps. of course, im kidding, we can still be friends. :) but your taste in movies sucks ;)

  2. Grant says:

Will ala SNL – classic. One of the best 3 or 4 comics ever on SNL.

Will ala Actor – good lord, just shoot me now.

Farley – pure genius, both on SNL and in movies. I laughed so hard in Black Sheep and Tommy Boy.

Alas, we will never know the depth of his legacy…could he have usurped Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy ? I think he could have…

  3. you didn’t like willy wonka? okay i have to agree with jeremey – “i thought you and i could be friends.” wonka is one of the greatest movies ever and i feel sorry for johynn depp trying to follow gene wilder. i love wonka better now as an adult because i realize how amazingly mean wonka is to the kids and their parents.

Are you referring to ME as the one who DRAGS you to the movie?!!! I feel the same way about WILL. Amy

  7. Wayne says:

  8. The Misfit says:

Dude, I’m exactly like you about movies! That’s my only real escape in a super-busy world. My wife thinks I’m a freak because I’ll go to movies by myself, but oh well. I figure I belong to everyone else 90% of the time (wife, kids, coworkers, church people, etc…) so what I do with my 10% is entirely up to me.

Oh, and I agree with you about Will Ferrell… maybe I’m just not hip or with it, but I don’t think his stuff is all that funny. If he’s the funniest in Jeremy’s generation, the future looks pretty bleak.

  9. Grant says:

the prob is jer is part of our generation…so that is why i’m thinkin’ it’s a canadian thing…and a lousiana thing…

    hopefully….

  10. did i step into some sort of alternative universe when i entered this website?

since when is wil ferrel not a funny actor? man oh man… pretty much everyone i know (be they canadian/american/japanese) loves the guy! huzzah for wil!

and as for me being from canada… its not so bad! at least the rest of the world doesnt hate us, and i can go to the doctor when i get sick without it costing me anything, oh, and we dont have george dubya running the show… which is never a bad thing ;)

  11. Grant says:

According to this, Canadians have their own political nightmare on their hands!! ahhaha

This is a good blog – things Canada has going for them….

    It’s now on my list…hahaha

I also have some mop up to do with the wif….yikes!

  12. yes. we have many, many problems up here. apparently the liberal government has been scamming money or something? i dont know, i dont really pay attention to that stuff. boo canada.

  13. Jerry says:

I’m catching up on my reading. Drugs, broken arms, brides. Too bad you didn’t get any morphine out of the deal. When my son broke his arm that’s what he got. All you got was an embarrassing fall onto your driveway. Sorry about that dude. Your bike sounds cool, though.

So why don’t you all do a feed-the-homeless outreach with your flock? Or visit the AIDS hospice? Or adopt a widow who’s not part of your congregation?

And speaking of brides… you dug your own grave, buddy. You deserve every “drug” movie you get this summer. Even *I* know better than to imply publicly that those movies are against my will.
Amy, I think this post was a secret cry for someone to save him from the framework of movie expectations he’s trapped himself in. He really wants to see whimsical and romantic movies, but he just can’t admit it openly. And he certainly can’t blog about it openly!

  14. Grant says:

first of all, my wife is awesome. she is equally a movie nut as I am.

By ‘dragged’ I mean this – ever been in a position where almost everybody has made a decision to see a movie and you have to go or you end up looking like a royal pain in the butt?

Like this…Steve Boehm does this to me all the time…hahahaha

  15. Anonymous says:

Okay I’m convinced … you squat to pee. Don’t see Kingdom of Heaven on the list … huh …

    Steve

  16. Bigfoot says:

MOnster in law is hilarious, the other movies you want to see are ok. War of the Worlds is dumb becuz of dakota fanning i think her name is. She just screams throughout the whole thing
